Starting back in 2015, A Wizard's Christmas (a Harry Potter and Hogwarts inspired event) began in a small re-furbished church in Frankfort, KY. With vaulted Gothic ceilings, and industrial finishes the main space mimicked the Great Hall space in the movie franchise. Right away the event was dreamed up to transport guests into the sorting ceremony of the movie!
Our first years design was a basic re-creation of the Hogwarts Sorting Harry Potter house Ceremony with the sorting of our guests into their houses, a banquet feast, and iconic character appearances. Our main goal was to make the atmosphere as close to the movie set as possible for a magical experience. With floating candles, wood rustic tables, themed house decor, and iconic sets from the movie.
With only 1 weekend available to purchase and 450 seats, the event sold out in 2 days!
Due to the event being a large success, we decided to bring it back a second year to Frankfort, but this time we wanted to add in our own history. With elements of the Harry Potter movie franchise as well as a little of our own, Alabaster School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a North American Wizarding School, and sister school to Hogwarts was created! This allowed us to get super creative and create new elements of the wizarding community that guests have never seen before!
With only 2 weekends and 900 seats, the event sold out in 1 week!
The Hogwarts inspired Diagon Alley marketplace was born! Guests loved the Hogwarts sorting Harry Potter house ceremony and banquet but wanted the next magical experience. So, we decided to add a small outdoor marketplace with a limited selection of items for sale. Due to the limitations of the building, the only available space for our new set was in a heated tent in the confided gardens. Navigating the space had it's challenges and we soon made the decision that the event had outgrown it's former site and needed a new location! So the scouting began!
This year we opened up 4 weekends for guests to purchase with, over 1900 seats! The event sold out in 2 weeks!
Finding a new home would not be easy! We searched for a space that would primarily house a larger number of people but still be in close proximity to the majority of our guests. A WOW atmosphere was also desired, as well as finding ways to keep our guests warm in the winter months. With already a limited amount of spaces to choose from, we decided to try out the Louisville Zoo! With a large steel tent structured tent, it was a great "blank canvas" really go above and beyond with our design. Adding in a custom made life-size replica marketplace of the Harry Potter market Diagon Alley, and a full stage for our story and characters to come to life. We were able to bring our audience a much bigger and more immersive Hogwarts inspired event than we thought possible!
This year we opened 8 weekends for guests to purchase and over 3,000 seats! The event sold out in 1 month!
